The Sensory Garden conceived by Hospital Manager Mr Emmet Corrigan and designed by Mr John McCarthy of Ryan O’Brien Handy will be located in the Hospital’s grounds and incorporate the existing arboretum. There will be a fully accessible path with seating including a pagoda. The planting will feature a broad spectrum of colour that will change with the seasons. Included in the planting scheme will be a herb garden, wild flowers, textural planting, scented planting and plants to attract butterflies and bees. We will also have a pond and a bird feeding area. The Hospital’s residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the garden all year round. Work on the first phase of the Sensory Garden begins in March 2009 funded by monies raised from the Art Sale and a donation from People In Need. (Click for a larger view)
